宮城峡
Since 1969 — 仙台市青葉区, Miyagi
Miyagikyo was opened in 1969, when Masataka Taketsuru sought a malt of a different character from Yoichi and chose a lush gorge west of Sendai, blessed by two clear rivers, the Hirose and the Nikkawa. Steam-heated indirect distillation gives a graceful, fruity spirit, and rare Coffey continuous stills produce grain whisky. Tours run by reservation; the visitor centre opens 9:00–16:00.
