Akkeshi Distillery was opened in 2016 by Kenten Jitsugyo in the town of Akkeshi, eastern Hokkaido, where the cool, humid climate resembles that of Islay. Working with peated malt in the Islay style, it has earned international acclaim for its series named after the 24 solar terms of the traditional calendar.
