Sakurao Distillery was opened in 2018 by Chugoku Jozo — founded in 1918 and now Sakurao Brewery and Distillery — on a site that looks across the water to Miyajima, the World Heritage shrine island. It produced Hiroshima's first single malt whisky and also distils gin. A visitor centre is open.
